The Buzz: Bennett Miller's (Moneyball) latest drama follows the quest for glory of Olympic wrestler Mark Schultz (Channing Tatum), led by sponsor John du Pont (Steve Carell), which resulted in disastrous consequences for Mark's brother David (Mark Ruffalo). At its Cannes premiere, Foxcatcher took critics by storm and burst out of the gate as an early frontrunner for the Best Picture Oscar, among other awards. Momentum has remained consistent at other festivals, and with both its transformative performances and dark riffing on the American Dream, there's so much potential there. Oscar Predictions: Nominations are possible for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Supporting Actor (Tatum or Ruffalo) and Best Original Screenplay, while Best Actor (Carell) and Best Makeup & Hairstyling are pretty much locks at this point. It seems that despite the critical acclaim, its most realistic prospect is scoring a win for Carell: the Academy loves against-type performances, and by all accounts this one is a knockout. Release Date: November 14th (US), January 9th (UK)
