The Buzz: The second feature from The Secret of Kells director Tomm Moore is another traditionally-animated effort that wears its Irish origins on its sleeve, and going by its strongly-received Toronto premiere two weeks ago, should be considered a major threat moving towards the Oscars. Oscar Predictions: Only the most special animated films (Beauty and the Beast, Up, Toy Story 3) can break out of the Best Animated Film category to end up nominated for Best Picture and beyond, so expect a solo nomination for the movie here. Still, given that it's been a relatively disappointing year animation-wise, and the fact that The Lego Movie may simply be too off-kilter to connect with the Academy's older voters, this more quaint, traditional effort could steamroll How to Train Your Dragon 2 and run away with the Oscar.
