4. The Shaggy Dog
The Remake: In this 2006 family comedy, Tim Allen stars as a deputy district attorney who, after being bitten by a mystical mutt, sporadically transforms into a Bearded Collie. Hi-jinks ensue, but critics weren't having any of it: the movie was widely panned, and it ended up with three Razzie nominations, for Worst Actor (Allen), Worst Remake or Rip-Off and also Worst Excuse for Family Entertainment. The Original: The 2006 film was actually the second remake of the 1959 black-and-white original, which is completely different (not to mention effortlessly superior) in every way. Rather than the father character becoming the dog, it's the son, and the result is a lot less goofy even if the plot is still inherently absurd. Which One Is Better?: Easily the original. It's still hardly a great film, but breezy fun compared the rather insufferable quality of the most recent remake.
