Coasting on the success of the teen slasher revival ushered in by Wes Craven’s Scream, along came another Kevin Williamson penned horror, I Know What You Did Last Summer, in the latter half of 1997.

While nowhere near as good as Scream and with nary a trace of its satire or self-referential humour it was a big box office hit and fulfilled all the necessary minimum requirements of the genre – impossibly good-looking young cast and hook-wielding killer included – despite a relatively low body count for a horror movie.

Those who missed the movie first time around or would like to relive one of the 90s slasher revival’s more middling efforts are in luck as a remake-cum-reboot of IKWYDLS headed by Sony Pictures and co-written by Ouija: Origin of Evil and Gerald’s Game director Mike Flanagan will apparently be winging its way to cinemas in the not too distant future.
