15 Near Miss Villain Castings That Would Suck More Than Eisenberg's Luthor

9. Christian Bale - George W. Bush (W.)

Christian Bale George W Bush Alright, so whether George W. Bush can qualify as an outright villain will be for individuals to make their own minds up about, and Oliver Stone gave him a surprisingly fair, safe treatment in his biopic, W. (typically pronounced "dubbya"), but did you know Christian Bale was originally signed on for the part? It's difficult to believe, but Bale even went so far as to submit to make-up tests, though it was ultimately these disappointing tests which caused the actor to walk, feeling he didn't look the part. Just look at these two: it doesn't really make any sense. Even in the younger Bush scenes, Bale would struggle under a metric ton of make-up to half-way resemble the former President of the United States, and as for the scenes in which he actually is the POTUS...just no. The end result may not have been great, but the film got one thing majorly right: Josh Brolin's performance as Bush was an excellent feat of mimicry, and no matter how talented Bale is, this would have been so, so wrong.
