15 Near Miss Villain Castings That Would Suck More Than Eisenberg's Luthor
10. Bruce Willis - Alonzo Harris (Training Day)
If Bruce Willis has made one thing clear throughout his career, it's that he's great at playing a hero, but not so much a bad guy. He's easy to root for, and he's so recognisable as Die Hard's John McClane that audiences don't really want to see him playing a baddie, unless it's a morally ambiguous one such as his character in Looper. Still, that didn't stop the producers of the excellent crime thriller Training Day from considering the actor to play Alonzo Harris, the corrupt cop who evaluates Ethan Hawke's wet-around-the-ears police officer Jake Hoyt over the course of the movie in...unconventional fashion to say the least. Willis is such a natural good guy that this would've totally blown. Plus, the racial dynamic of the two main characters adds a lot to the movie, and hearing Willis bellow "King Kong ain't got s*** on me!" likely wouldn't have the same impact that it has coming out of the mouth of Denzel Washington, who ended up winning an Oscar for the role. In short: the character really needed to be black, so thankfully despite being considered, neither Gary Sinise nor Tom Sizemore made the cut either.
