15 Original Upcoming Movies Which Might Save Hollywood

10. The Nice Guys

Release Date: May 20, 2016 (US) / June 3, 2016 (UK) What It's About: A noirish thriller set in 1970s Los Angeles, where two private detectives join forces with a rookie cop to investigate the apparent suicide of an aging porn star, but discover a much deeper conspiracy. Why It Can Save Hollywood: Good film or bad, Shane Black (Lethal Weapon, Iron Man 3) is a one-of-a-kind talent, and this type of project sounds totally up his street. With an outstanding cast to boot, including Ryan Gosling, Russell Crowe, Matt Bomer, Kim Basinger and Ty Simpkins, there's plenty of hope that The Nice Guys will end up being the movie that the underwhelming Gangster Squad was supposed to. With Black at the helm and co-writing the script, though, it'll probably take itself a great deal less seriously and be peppered with howlingly entertaining one-liners. No complaints here.
