Diana ended up being one of the most unexpectedly awful movies of 2013, despite as committed a performance as you'd usually expect from Watts. Skirting respectfully around the more notorious details of Diana's demise, the movie instead focuses on a soppy romance between the title character and a heart surgeon, essentially making the film feel like an adaptation of a lame romance novel with the only distinguishing factor being that it's about a famous figure.
