15 Oscar-Baiting Films That Hilariously Failed To Win

7. Amelia

A biopic about one of America's most enduring figures, directed by a popular, talented filmmaker, written by several Oscar nominees and starring an actress who has won both Best Actress Oscars she has been nominated for? Amelia should have been an awards slam dunk, but the most disappointing thing about this movie is that it's actually very boring and dull, not what you'd expect of a story about a famous aircraft pilot who disappeared under mysterious circumstances now, is it? You have to feel sorry for Swank, who tries hard but can't really gain any traction with the movie's twee script: she absolutely looks the part as Amelia Earhart, but basically everything else around her is poorly thought out and an absolute slog to sit through. As you can guess, Amelia didn't net a single Oscar nod or anything else on the awards circuit.
