The Original: Loveable idiots Harry Dunne (Jeff Daniels) and Lloyd Christmas (Jim Carrey) head off on a road trip to return a briefcase to the lovely Mary Swanson (Lauren Holly), only to find themselves targeted by criminals ready to bring them down at all costs. The Sequel: Dumb and Dumber To's core premise is a total reprise of the original movie: the duo end up going on a road trip, they befriend an assassin (Rob Riggle) and accidentally ruin his attempts to murder them, and are faced with the evil scheme of the money-grabbing Adele (Laurie Holden), who of course ends up being foiled by the goofballs in the end. A large number of the movie's gags also just repeat the original film's jokes without any particular subversion or changing-up: how much you'll go for this will likely depend on your affinity for the first film.
