15 Potential Plot Twists That Could Ruin Upcoming Movies

2. It Actually Sets Up A Fourth Movie - Fifty Shades Freed

The Twist: The third Fifty Shades movie deviates from the source material and sets up yet another chapter in Christian (Jamie Dornan) and Ana's (Dakota Johnson) tale.

Why It Could Ruin The Movie: Basically, even haters of the Fifty Shades franchise will watch the next one comfortable in the knowledge that it's the last one and they'll never have to sit through another as long as they live.

But if the ending sets up yet another story, it's going to close the film on an especially sour note, considering there's no existing written story to follow-up with, if you can even deem these films to have much of a source material in the first place.

How Likely Is It?: With Fifty Shades Darker grossing almost $200 million less than the first film, it's more probable that Freed will be a "take the money and run" effort, to close the series off in one final, money-grabbing hurrah.

Then again, these movies are so cheap to make that Universal may not be quite ready to let the series go. Don't be shocked if it nods towards more sexy adventures for the pair, but is also vague enough that it won't feel "necessary" (if these movies ever are) should Freed under-perform financially. 5/10
