3. The Emoji Movie

The Emoji Movie
Sony Pictures Animation

Surely this one is self-explanatory?

It's a movie about Emojis and that's a stupid concept if there ever was one, but that's not all. It's led by TJ Miller and James Corden, two tiresome and inexplicably popular comedy actors, and the trailers made it look like nothing more than a bizarre feature-length advertisement for everything in your phone, with whole set-pieces revolving around Just Dance and Candy Crush.

Unfortunately, while some crossed their fingers and hoped The Emoji Movie would be a really clever, fun and subversive flick in the vein of The Lego Movie, the impressions given by the trailers were entirely correct.

Less a movie, more a creepy, abysmally-written, braindead and stupendously unfunny exercise in nauseating product placement without a shred of heart or creativity, The Emoji Movie is a cinematic disaster on almost every conceivable level.

It later became the first animation to win the Razzie for Worst Picture, and you know what? That was completely deserved. Hell, it makes Cars 2 look like Toy Story.
