15 Recent Movies We're Not Surprised Sucked
7. Transformers: The Last Knight
It's a Transformers sequel. Why wouldn't it suck?
None of the other Transformers sequels have ever recaptured the light, self-aware fun of the first movie, and however much money they made, all three of them underwhelmed as films. Dark of the Moon was weak, Age of Extinction was terrible and Revenge of the Fallen deserves to be listed among the worst Hollywood blockbusters ever made.
Furthermore, with director Michael Bay returning to a franchise he'd often seemed keen to leave, and the trailers promising the film would double down on all the silliness, no-one was expecting anything more than another terrible stupidity sandwich.
And yes indeed, The Last Knight was a predictably terrible movie that, aside from a few funny moments, was far too brainless, emotionally hollow and badly paced to add up to anything more than a profoundly irritating viewing experience.
Still, Bumblebee was a lot better and the upcoming Transformers 6 doesn't have Michael Bay attached, so there is actually hope for the future of this series. Isn't that swell?
