15 Stunning Facts About 2017’s Biggest Movies
11. The Film Exists Because Of Eddie Murphy - Get Out

Writer-director Jordan Peele's inspiration for his brilliant horror-satire came from an unexpected source: Eddie Murphy. Peele was watching the funnyman's iconic 1983 stand-up classic Delirious, where Murphy made a joke about white people hanging around in horror movies even after a malevolent entity has screamed "Get out!", and so the seed for the film was sewn.
Murphy probably can't take too much credit, as this was clearly the most basic touchstone around which Peele formed a ferociously original horror film, but perhaps if Peele didn't decide to watch Delirious that night, Get Out wouldn't even exist right now.
Thank you, Eddie Murphy. You may not be working much these days, but this basically counts.
