12. Christian Bale Almost Played Tobias Beckett - Solo: A Star Wars Story

Before Woody Harrelson was cast as Han Solo's (Alden Ehrenreich) dubious mentor Tobias Beckett, the role very nearly went to another A-list actor entirely: Christian Bale.

Even prior to Solo hitting cinemas, Bale confirmed he was in talks and almost accepted the offer:

“Yes, [it was] very tempting. I not only love the films going back to my childhood but also have a very long relationship with Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall because they did Empire of the Sun many years back. There was discussion, [and] I hope there will be future discussions.”

Harrelson of course did fine work in the role, but it'll always be intriguing to consider what Bale would've done with it, and also why he didn't end up taking the part.

At least there's hope here that we might end up seeing Bale in a future Star Wars movie.
