You'll be hard-pressed to find a movie filled with more VFX shots this past year than Aquaman, which with its primary underwater setting was required to use extensive CGI in the vast majority of its images.

The final count for visual effects shots was a whopping 2,300, an insane figure topped only by a handful of other recent Hollywood movies (such as Captain America: Civil War, Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets and The Fate of the Furious).

Though Aquaman sadly missed out on making the Oscar shortlist for Best Visual Effects, the mighty, mind-boggling work that went into bringing Atlantis to life is undeniable.
