11. Do You Believe?
Why It Looks Terrible: It's another in a recent trend of overwrought Christian drama films flooding cinemas, and the trailer does little to dispel the belief that this anthology film about 12 different faith-based stories will be anything more than, well, preaching to the converted. Yes, the cast features the talented likes of Mira Sorvino, Sean Astin, Cybill Shepherd and Alexa PenaVega, but it's not exactly like any of them have done much of note recently, and it pretty much just seems like they're slumming it here for an easy payday. Plus, expect plenty of corny Christian rock music if the trailer is any indication. How It Will Make A Profit: Because there are a hell of a lot of Christians out there, and these movies tend to be produced for relatively low budgets. For reference, look at three of the most popular low-budget Christian films released last year: Heaven Is For Real made $101.3 million, Son Of God made $67 million and God's Not Dead made $66 million, each vastly exceeding their small costs many times over. There's no reason not to expect similar returns here.
