15 Terrible Mistakes That Almost Ruined Terminator For Everyone
9. Giving Away The Twist In The Trailer (Terminator Salvation)
Even ignoring the fact that Terminator Salvation had a ridiculously awesome trailer for an ultimately rather disappointing movie, the most interesting idea it set up was that Marcus Wright (Sam Worthington) was, in fact, part-man, part-machine, much to the horror of himself, John Connor and the whole human resistance. However, though this is a provocative enough idea to bring fans back to the cinema, it ultimately proved to harm the film, because it's actually revealed as something of a big plot twist half-way through the movie, even though just about everyone watching was already aware of this. Had the marketing team co-operated with McG, then perhaps this twist would have been left out of the advertising, but instead, it left viewers bored and anxiously waiting for the reveal to happen so they could see what was to follow.
