8. Awful Effects (The Terminator)

One of the more memorable quotes from The Terminator has Kyle Reese (Michael Biehn) explaining the Terminator to Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton): "The 600 series had rubber skin. We spotted them easy, but these are new. They look human €” sweat, bad breath, everything. Very hard to spot. I had to wait till he moved on you before I could zero him." It's a terrifying idea, it's just a shame that the low budget movie's special effects...aren't so special, and so Reese's comments about the new T-800 being hard to spot just seem kinda ridiculous. Sure, the famous eyeball scene is only a small part of the movie, and the movie's other cheap-looking effects (namely the stop-motion endoskeleton) actually enhance the overall creepiness, but given that the Terminator is supposed to be an immensely convincing infiltration bot, this scene rings hilariously hollow, even if it's relatively easy to forgive given how awesome everything else is.
