15 Terrible Movies That Actually Improve Good Ones
10. Lady In The Water Improves The Sixth Sense
The Bad
By the time Lady in the Water happened, M Night Shyamalan's star had already been declining, so anticipation was not exactly at a high. But, Lady In The Water was introduced with an eerie, mysterious teaser trailer that actually did its job.
Unfortunately, it turned out that said trailer was actually better than anything in the entire finished product.
Shyamalan's head had crammed deeply into his pack entrance by this point and Lady In The Water is filled with pretension, nonsensical nonsense and even features the man himself as a writer whose work will change the world. How humble.
How It Improves The Sixth Sense
Before the pretentiousness, Shyamalan made what is one of the best horror films of all time. Maintaining the eerie-mysteriousness throughout, rather than just in a trailer, The Sixth Sense features a twist so good it featured in pub conversations all over the globe.
Along with a haunting performance from Haley Joel Osment and a surprisingly chased performance from Bruce Willis, The Sixth Sense stands as a reminder of everything Shyamalan could have been before he started to make farcical rubbish.
