15 Traumatising Moments From Children’s Movies That Scarred You For Life

6. E.T. Dying - E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial

E.T. is one of the cutest movie creatures of all time. The loveable little Extra-Terrestrial enthralled audiences with his mischievous ways in Spielberg's film and it became one of the most successful movies of all time as a result. He was a very different alien than had been seen on film before; he wasn't a threat and didn't want to hurt humans despite his strange appearance. He just wanted to call home. For the first half of the film audiences are treated to a game of cat-and-mouse as E.T. tries to avoid being found and there are many scenes with the alien having fun and forming friendships with the kids. It was pretty traumatic then when, suddenly, E.T. gets sick. He is found lying face-down in a ditch and is brought back to the house where doctors work on him to try and identify the problem. In what is an even more dramatic shift in tone for the film, E.T's best friend Elliot is also suffering. The scene where Elliot sees his space buddy flatlining and screams out for him to come back is hard to take. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a-9990dlfvo
