5. Bambi's Mom - Bambi

It's a little strange how much the deaths of animated characters can affect us. Very few of these deaths have equalled the impact that the death of Bambi's mother has had. In the film Bambi's mom is taking young Bambi to find food when they are shot at by hunters. Mother and son flee with Bambi's mom encourage her child to run faster and flee the danger. Bambi makes it to a nearby cave and a gunshot is heard in the distance. And then his mother does not appear, as the true horror becomes apparent. Bambi emerges from the cave and goes looking for his mother, to no avail. His repeated cries pierce your soul as you watch it.
