5. Josh Brolin As Thanos

The Film: Avengers: Infinity War

After he's been seeded since all the way back in the first Avengers movie, Josh Brolin's big moment is coming as Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War, which is currently being billed as a world-changing tentpole that will redefine events movies and how the MCU is formatted.

Brolin is a great choice as the Mad Titan: he's a powerhouse actor capable of stunning performances in Oscar-worthy movies and Marvel's ability to convince him to play the largely CGI character is a huge boon. Even under all of those digital augmentations, he will be enough of a dependable presence to add complexity and depth to the character.

The suggestion at this stage is that Thanos will be the lead and that the Infinity saga will be predominantly seen through his eyes, meaning the requirements of the role go well beyond a one-dimensional, universe conquering monster.
