6. Alison Brie As Captain Marvel

The Film: Captain Marvel

It's taken way too long, but Marvel will finally bring their first female solo movie in 2019, introducing Captain Marvel as a hero (presumably after Carol Danvers debuts in Infinity War). And they've done remarkably well to build a strong foundation with the casting of Oscar-winner Brie Larson as the lead.

There were some fears about the film thanks to the comparatively quiet production (some seem all too willing to ignore the fact that it's still 2 years away because of the importance of Wonder Woman's release), but Larson's presence is a huge boost for the entire MCU.

It really can't be overstated how important Captain Marvel's success will be to the MCU: it will determine that the studio can explore more female-centric branches (fingers crossed for a Black Widow flick), and a film-making powerhouse that big making those strides should have as positive an effect on the industry as Wonder Woman's likely success will.
