4. Hailee Steinfeld - Bumblebee

The Role: Charlie Watson, a teenage girl who discovers Transformer Bumblebee hiding out in a Californian junkyard.

Why She'll Be Wasted: Hailee Steinfeld is one of the best young actors working today, as she proved once again with her fantastic performance in last year's The Edge of Seventeen, so it's a shame to see her leading a Transformers spin-off movie that's surely going to require only the most base layer of her multi-faceted talents.

Even though it's being directed by Kubo and the Two Strings' Travis Knight, the script coming from Christina Hodson (Shut In, Unforgettable) provides almost zero faith that Steinfeld will be done solid justice here.

While the movie probably won't be as outwardly sexist out of Michael Bay's hands, he's still serving as producer, so it's best to expect the same braindead thrills as usual. It won't harm her career in any way, and she'll certainly get nicely paid out of it, but it does feel like a bit of a step back for the Oscar nominee.
