2. Doll Graveyard (2005)
Shockingly, Doll Graveyard is written and directed by Charles Band. Maybe I need to broaden my killer doll horizons. Or maybe we just need someone else creating some maniacal toys. I actually enjoyed this film for a little while (and a little while is all it lasts - 71 minutes). The plot premise, about a set of handmade dolls that are buried with a girl who tragically dies in a fall and are discovered by a boy 100 years later, is imaginative. Unfortunately, the rest of the story isn't that unique and this movie quickly devolves into a typical killer doll movie; one with horrendous acting and annoying characters. However, I did like the dolls a lot. Plus, it is incredibly fun to watch a movie with such an over-the-top racist doll and let yourself feel so uncomfortable. I watch horror movies to feel something unnerving, and this doll with its inherent racism will definitely make you unnerved.
Weird or Wonderful? - Weird for Charles Band's frightening obsession with toys and Wonderful for the tense, racist doll.
