15 Weirdest Cult Films Of All Time

2. Braindead

Before Peter Jackson became obsessed with hobbits, he was actually a daring and bold independent film-maker and had a string of cult hits in the 1980's and early '90s. Following the equally strange Bad Taste and Meet The Feebles was Braindead, a zombie comedy film made and set in New Zealand. The film is one of the goriest of all time and set new standards for inventive ways to dispose of the undead. The film's weird highlight is the climactic home invasion, which sees the hero take out most of the zombies with a lawnmower. It is an absolute bloodbath. The film is weird when you consider who directed it and just how 'out there' it is. After all, not every film has a grown man chasing a zombie baby through a public park, catch it and then proceed to repeatedly punch it in the face.
