7. Sausage Party

Swiss Army Man Paul Dano Daniel Radcliffe
Columbia Pictures

Sausage Party sounds like a joke Seth Rogen came up with while hanging with his stoner chums, and then decided to write it down. The movie is essentially Toy Story with food, and details what happens when our foodstuff becomes sentient and realises what happens when they’re taken home.

It’s a twisted premise, and Rogen has fun coming up with a number of twisted scenes, like a potato being skinned alive, baby carrots being graphically eaten and a used condom begging for help. It’s a one-joke idea stretched to 80 minutes, but it gets a lot of belly laughs out of playing with the typical Disney formula; plus it's the rare mainstream animated movie aimed squarely at adults.

It ends with a rather disgusting food “orgy” scene, which would probably get the film banned if it featured actual humans.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
