3. House of the Dead

House Of The Dead Uwe Boll
Artisan Entertainment
House of the Dead is an adaptation of an arcade game where all you do is mindlessly shoot zombies, and it's directed by Uwe Boll. This might be shocking to hear, but the end result is not very good. In the film, five college students travel to a remote island for a rave, which for some reason is sponsored by SEGA. They pay a fisherman $1,000 to take them, but when they arrive, there are no humans in sight. It turns out that's because the place is crawling with zombies, or at least as many zombie extras as they could afford. What kind of rave would be held on a random island in the middle of nowhere? Who knows. Once they find the site of the rave has been completely trashed, do they leave? Nope, they decide to walk around the island by themselves for a while, because how else would we separate these characters so they could be killed off? In one of the more baffling decisions, the movie frequently cuts to actual footage from the House of the Dead video game without bothering to tie it in to the scene. Did Uwe Boll's final cut just run way too short, or did he realize that without these clips, the movie would have absolutely nothing to do with the game?
