Scientists will be examining the conditions that allowed Gods Of Egypt to exist for years to come. It’s mighty baffling that studio execs thought a campy fantasy film where Gerard Butler plays an evil Egyptian God – who also turns into a dodgy CGI monster – would be a surefire hit. It really, really wasn’t.

There’s nothing that sums the stupidity up better than the final fight between Butler and the brother he betrayed, where they slash at each other a bit before transforming into robotic hyena things that shoot lasers at each other; it’s awful in ways previously considered impossible.

The CG looks like something from a PS2 cutscene, and it says a lot about the inherent dullness of the film that even a scene this outright insane is boring to sit through.
