15 Worst Movie Moments Of 2016
9. Enchantress' Death - Suicide Squad
Suicide Squad got a mixed reception overall, but it was a decent b-movie in its own way. It had some strong performances, and it was easy to sit back and watch. One area it really lacked was the villain's department, with Jared Leto’s Joker sidelined most of the time, and big bad Incubus conveying less menace than a basket full of kittens.
Enchantress wasn’t much better, though the film really expects the audience to be invested in the love story between her alter ego June Moore and Rick Flagg. During the finale, Flagg has to stab Enchantress’ heart and possibly kill June, a decision that’s supposed to be – pun intended – heartbreaking.
Since the audiences has next to no emotional connection to their relationship it isn’t, so the reveal she survived also means nothing. It feels like a bizarre homage to the scene from the original Ghostbusters where Sigourney Weaver breaks out of the charred dog creature, but it was executed much better there.
