11. The Origin Story
Fury inevitably responds poorly to the death of his partner, and attempts to take the law into his own hands, only to be stopped by what becomes his superhero origin. As he says himself:
"Before I could pull the trigger, I was hit by lightning and bitten by a cobra..."
It's just wonderfully insane: like the increasingly silly twists and turns of the toddler-penned Axe Cop and its self-conscious middle finger salute to the limits of common decency in narrative spinning.
He blacks out, only to awaken and feel his body mutate into some sort of "kung fu freak of nature" having learned everything he needs to know about the secret art of Kung Fury from a montage. (As well as discovering he's the chosen one).
Inevitably, the origin fight sequence then ends with the kung fu master being kicked into an oil tanker and Fury watching the explosion in a perfectly landed splits in the foreground. And of course, he takes a momento: a head band made from the master's suit taken from the fiery wreckage.
"I decided I would use my new super kung fu powers to fight crime, so I became the best cop in the world."
