16 Crazy Facts You Just Have To Accept To Enjoy The X-Men Franchise

8. Storm's Accent Shift (X2)

One of the most jarring elements when re-watching the original X-Men all these years later is Storm's accent. Given that the character is of Kenyan origin in the comics, Berry opted to give her an accent to suit, though the Oscar-winning actress ultimately gave a pretty horrible, laughably inconsistent rendition of what an SNL skit might appropriate a Kenyan accent to be. Unsurprisingly, Berry dropped the accent for all future movies, either because she realised she sucked at it or someone else finally stepped in. Either way, wouldn't it have made sense to maybe test out her accent first before unleashing it on celluloid? It's a distracting element of the first movie (even more so in retrospect), and frankly, would it have bothered anyone at all if this wasn't included in the first place?
