17 Awesome Movie Concepts That Were Totally Botched

9. Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice

The Pitch: Batman (Ben Affleck), disturbed by the destruction Superman (Henry Cavill) caused during the Battle of Metropolis, seeks to take the Man of Steel down once and for all.

What Happened?: This is a movie that should've been incredibly simple and relatively easy to pull off, but with his clear ambition to create a sweeping superhero epic, Zack Snyder delivered a bloated, wildly convoluted and choppily edited misfire.

There are certainly great moments in Batman v Superman, but it's weighed down by excessive subplots, a questionable Jesse Eisenberg performance as Lex Luthor, a titular fight that lasts only around 7 minutes, and a horrible finale featuring a goofy digital rendition of Doomsday.

At least the film has something approaching a real vision, unlike last year's dreadful Justice League, but BvS didn't really need to be anything more than "Superman defeats Batman, Batman regroups and defeats Superman, then they both team up to fight Doomday with the help of Wonder Woman."
