A film best known for its incredible, did-that-just-happen? twist, Neil Jordan's The Crying Game tells the story of Fergus (Stephen Rea), an Irish Republican Army volunteer who befriends Jody (Forest Whitaker), a kidnapped British soldier. When things go awry, Fergus escapes, seeking out Jodys lover, Dil (Jaye Davidson), in the process. The two become involved romantically, but Dil harbours a secret. A great film in its own right, you still can't separate The Crying Game from its film-altering plot twist, which surely ranks as one of the most WTF of all time, changing a movie ostensibly about the IRA (amongst other things) into one about something else entirely. Without wanting to spoil this one and give it away, it really is best to just stop here and let you go stream it for yourselves to see.
