17 Subtle Star Wars Easter Eggs And References In Other Movies

8. €œDo, Or Do Not, There Is No Try€ - Chasing Amy (1997)

It comes as no surprise that Kevin Smith is a huge Star Wars fan, and references to the saga along with countless nods to other sci-fi classics have always been prominent in his best films, from Clerks to Clerks 2 and everything in between. You don€™t have to be a genius to work out which film influenced the title of Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, though Smith is also fond of adding subtler references to his work. An example of this is in 1997€™s Chasing Amy, in which Silent Bob has one of his not-so-silent moments when advising Holden on his troubles: €œDo, or do not. There is no try€. This piece of sagely wisdom was of course originally spoken by Yoda during the X-wing sequence on Dagobah, his last piece of advice for Luke before he raises the fighter from the swamp and one of his most memorable lines from the entire saga. I guess Smith sees himself as a Yoda type figure. Not sure who that makes Jay.
