Nominated For: Best Achievement In Visual Effects

It was a long time coming, but The Avengers garnered the MCU the recognition it so richly deserved when Scarlett Johansson finally won a Golden Schmoe award for Best T&A Of The Year, beating out Anne Hathaway for The Dark Knight Rises. Winning Best DVD Of The Year can't have hurt, either.

With a worldwide gross of $1.5 billion, The Avengers is the highest grossing superhero movie of all time, the movie DC needs to beat and the main culprit for the current obsession with shared universes. Expect the inevitable backlash to be tied to the saturation coverage of Avengers: Infinity War.

Speaking of backlashes, the Academy later snubbed Avengers: Age Of Ultron and Captain America: Civil War, so don't expect to see too many Oscars in the MCU's future.
