Nominated For: Best Visual Effects & Best Sound

Remember what I was saying about how time can make even Oscar-nominated special effects look a little cheesy? Well, CGI was if not in its infancy then certainly still in short pants back in 2002, so the computer generated characters are a little more obvious, their movements a little jerkier.

It's still the second best Spider-Man movie to date, though, with Tobey Maguire a perfect Spidey and Sam Raimi's imaginative direction giving the film the same kinetic visual style he brought to Darkman over a decade earlier.

Good supporting cast, too: Willem Dafoe gets to grin like a shark as the Green Goblin, Kirsten Dunst is just right as Mary Jane and who would've thought that Bruce Campbell would appear in all three films, playing a different character each time?
