18 Crazy Facts You Have To Accept To Enjoy The Wizarding World Movies

7. Alfonso Cuaron Is The Best Director By Far

The Harry Potter franchise was blessed to have one of the finest directors working today in the form of Alfonso Cuaron, who directed Prisoner of Azkaban. His instalment is easily one of the series' best films and it benefits hugely from his visually beautiful direction. Unfortunately, he didn't return for any of the others.

He was offered the Goblet of Fire gig but he turned it down as he would've had to have started filming it while post-production of Prisoner of Azkaban was still going on. This decision shows how committed he was to his movie and reflects well on him, but it is still a damn shame he never came back.

Aside from the first two films, which are directed by the fairly unimaginative Chris Columbus, the Harry Potter films are visually stunning and well-directed, but neither Mike Newell (who directed the fourth film) or David Yates (who directed the rest of them to date) can hold a candle to Cuaron and his absence for the rest of the films was very disappointing.
