In November, Disney announced during a call with investors that the persistent yet ridiculous rumours were correct, and a fourth Toy Story movie was going to be released on June 16th, 2017. John Lasseter will direct and has written a story that will be adapted into a screenplay by, weirdly enough, Rashida Jones and Will McCormack, whose only major writing experience is on the middling romantic drama Celeste and Jesse Forever. Lasseter has insisted that the Pixar brain trust came up with a story so irresistible they had to make a new movie, though given the seemingly definite closure provided by the end of the third film, many fans are understandably skeptical that this will end up as another cash-grab sequel that undermines what came before.
