19 Ultimate Final Shoot-Outs Of Cinema History

15. Rambo (2008)

Scarface Gun
Lionsgate

This fourth Rambo movie was a surprisingly dark entry for the franchise. Certainly, the character drama of First Blood was effectively haunting but ever since it has been set on playing things as fun and as popcorn as possible - not so here.

Sly was angered by the real atrocities occurring in Burma and set his film around the grim realities of it; there is plenty of horrifying imagery thrown at us from rape, murder and even the shocking massacring of innocent children. Unfortunately Rambo and his squad - on a rescue mission - are forced to play it low-key. Until the finale that is and the big lug can’t take it anymore.

Approaching an unassuming soldier and swiftly dicing his head off in one swoop, Rambo then takes control of the gun-turret from hell and proceeds to unload a torrent of visceral violence. His squadron quickly joins in on the action in a fast-paced, gory and brutal shoot-out for the ages.

It isn’t pretty; with enough flying plasma, limbs and exploding heads on display that it comes close to be an all-out horror movie. Regardless, it has been a slow-burn build to this pay-off that will leave you shocked and exhilarated.
