20 Action Movie Sequels Since 2000 That Don't Suck

15. Underworld: Evolution

Bigger, better and with more monsters, this sequel to 2003’s Underworld is paced more briskly and stages the action on a far grander scale.

Anyone who wanted to see an expansion of the universe created in the original film will probably be disappointed, but for those seeking more bang for their buck, Evolution offers better action sequences than either Rise Of The Lycans or Awakening. And don't even mention I, Frankenstein, that curious Underworld wannabe with which the franchise shares a writer (Kevin Grevioux) and an actor (Bill Nighy).

Not only can director Len Wiseman (on only his second feature) stage a gun battle with the best of them, he’s also good with chase scenes and exploding helicopters. This didn’t go unnoticed, and Fox subsequently gave him a Die Hard sequel to direct.
