20 Actors Who Died In 2020

9. Carl Reiner

Black Panther Chadwick Boseman
Warner Bros.

A pioneering American comedian and father of filmmaker Rob Reiner, Carl Reiner was the winner of 11 Emmy Awards, one Grammy, and also the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor.

In addition to being the creator of "The Dick Van Dyke Show," he worked regularly in a comedy duo with Mel Brooks, wrote and directed some of Steve Martin's most successful films such as The Jerk, and more recently played Saul Bloom in the Ocean's trilogy.

Unlike many actors Reiner remained in the public eye until his death, regularly denouncing Donald Trump on Twitter and spending most every day with his fellow nonagenarian and best friend Brooks.

Carl Reiner died of natural causes on June 29 at the age of 98.
