20 Actors Who Just Gave Their Best Performance Ever

7. David Jonsson - The Long Walk

Life of Chuck Mark Hamill

Now, it's absolutely fair to say that David Jonsson is really only just getting started - the British actor has risen to prominence in recent years through his performances on TV series Industry and films Rye Lane and Alien: Romulus, as well as winning the 2025 BAFTA Rising Star Award.

But Jonsson's widely acclaimed work on all of these projects was impressively outdone by his magnificent performance in The Long Walk, where he plays one of the dystopian horror film's centralmost characters, Peter McVries.

Though Cooper Hoffman's Ray Garraty is the story's protagonist, Jonsson holds his own incredibly well as Peter, bringing soul and warmth to an inherently horrifying narrative, his chemistry with Hoffman wringing every drop of humanity from the tale.

The fraught scenario requires the entire cast to run the full gamut of emotions, and without Jonsson's sublime performance its most affecting crescendos wouldn't hit as hard as they do.

While awards love will likely elude Jonsson with this performance, it's yet further proof that he's going to have one hell of a career.
