16. Best Double Act - Jonah Hill & Channing Tatum (22 Jump Street)
With the returning characters and familiar setup quickly established thanks to some wry meta commentary on the nature of sequels, the real driving force of 22 Jump Street was still the relationship between undercover officers Schmidt and Jenko. Playing out like a romantic comedy, the duo go from being inseparable to deciding they need to 'investigate other people', going as far as holding hands during couples therapy. With the two lead actors giving immensely likeable performances, the genuine chemistry between Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum cemented them as one of the best buddy-cop partnerships in recent memory.
Runner Up - Rocket & Groot (Guardians Of The Galaxy)
It speaks volumes about the confidence that Kevin Feige and company have in their brand that they managed to turn a talking raccoon and a sentient tree into one of the year's best double-acts. In amongst the crowded ensemble for Guardians of the Galaxy, Rocket and Groot stood out from the pack despite being entirely CGI creations thanks to the characters having distinct personalities and a genuine chemistry, all the more impressive when you consider voice performers Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel weren't even on set and recorded their lines from the confines of a studio.
I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
