7. Queens of the Dead
George A. Romero left an immeasurable void when he passed away in 2017, though his daughter Tina has since emerged with a spiritual successor of-sorts to her father's pioneering work in the zombie genre.
Queens of the Dead is a horror-comedy with an utterly irresistible premise - what if the undead descended upon the cast and crew of a drag show, who were then forced to put their unique skills to the test in order to survive the night?
The result is a campy laugh riot that firmly lives up to George A. Romero's iconic stamp on the genre, at once nodding gleefully to his work while also forging a progressive path forward with its spotlight for unrepresented voices in the genre.
The cast, led by the ever-terrific Katy O'Brian and Jaquel Spivey, are clearly having a hoot, and while Queens of the Dead doesn't take itself particularly seriously, it is nevertheless a valid addition to the Romero family's collection of zombie romps.
