20 Awesome Horror Movies In 2025 You Definitely Missed

12. Jimmy & Stiggs

Jimmy and Stiggs is the latest project from iconoclastic genre director Joe Begos (Bliss, VFW, Christmas Bloody Christmas) and quite arguably his most insane film to date.

Shot entirely within Begos' own L.A. apartment, the film stars the director as Jimmy - a fictionalised quasi-version of himself who teams up with his pal Stiggs (Matt Mercer) to fend off aliens attempting to abduct the pair.

It goes without saying that Begos' latest won't be for everyone - it's loud and abrasive, splashed in garish neon lighting, almost every other word is an F-bomb, and the alien invaders are hilariously low-fi puppets.

But there's also a charm to this made-for-nothing romp that allows it to double as both a wacky action-horror film and an ode to indie horror filmmaking, clearly made with whatever few resources Begos could scrape together in his own abode no less.

And seemingly sensing the limitations of both the premise and his own acting abilities, Begos sensibly keeps the runtime to a svelte 80 minutes.
