20 Awesome Horror Movies That Never Got Sequels

To the surprise of few, a John Carpenter-directed Stephen King adaptation was one hell of a ride, with his 1983 film Christine making the absolute most of its wild central concept, revolving around a murderously possessive 1958 Plymouth Fury.

Despite the film ending with a final tease that the destroyed car would return, Christine 2 never actually happened.

While you can point to King's novel having no written sequel, the book itself did end on an ambiguous note implying Christine's possible survival to hunt down those who wronged her, so the kernel of an idea was certainly there.

Ultimately it's Christine's modest box office performance that likely stopped Columbia from actively pursuing a follow-up, though considering that the film became a cult classic years later, it's little surprise that Sony began mounting an as-yet-unrealised remake in 2021.

The appeal of a killer car movie speaks for itself, so it's honestly surprising that we've gone more than 40 years without another Christine.
