Regina King's directorial debut is picking up some of the year's strongest reviews so far, earmarking it as a major awards contender moving forward.

Screenwriter Kemp Powers adapts his own 2013 stage play, which takes place shortly after Cassius Clay aka Muhammad Ali (Eli Goree) scores his surprise February 1964 title win over Sonny Liston.

Ali, Malcolm X (Kingsley Ben-Adir), Sam Cooke (Leslie Odom Jr.), and Jim Brown (Aldis Hodge) gather in a Miami hotel room later that month, where they discuss the growing civil rights and counter-culture movements.

With near-universal praise for its direction, script, and performances, expect a slew of Oscar nominations in its future.

One Night In Miami is expected to release on Amazon Prime before the end of the year.
