9. Good Boy
Good Boy is another brilliantly experimental horror film that, like Azrael, isn't likely to dazzle anyone quite the same way on a second watch.
Ben Leonberg's wholly unique supernatural horror went viral last year because its protagonist was an adorable dog, Indy, who attempts to save his owner from an encroaching malevolent presence.
Produced for just $70,000, Good Boy is a stunning micro-budget experiment and a soaring testament to what smart filmmakers can pull off with few resources.
It certainly doesn't hurt that Indy is a born natural in front of the camera and makes for one hell of a memorable horror protagonist.
But it's also fair to say that Good Boy's threadbare story doesn't really incentivise more than one viewing - unless you really love that dog, anyway.
This is a laudable shoestring horror flick that impressively secured a theatrical release, even if most probably won't be compelled to go back to it.
